Partial Building Collapse Reported In Milford Following Storm

MILFORD, CT — A partial building collapse occurred in Milford during storms overnight, WFSB 3-TV reported.

The collapse happened at a building at 11 Cascade Boulevard on the town line with Orange.

The building houses an electronics company, according to WTNH News-8.

Crews reported significant damage at the site, including water and gas leaks. The sprinkler system had also been activated.

The roof came off the building and onto power lines on Metro-North railroad, affecting the trains.

The city said in a Facebook post that the storm has led to numerous downed trees and power lines.

As of Thursday morning, United Illuminating maps showed more than 2,200 Milford customers and 1,200 Orange customers were without power.

WFSB 3-TV reported that Milford was particularly hard hit by the storm due to a microburst between 1 and 1:15 a.m.

Orange police also said that "multiple utility poles snapped in half on Marsh Hill Road and dozens of trees damaged on Marsh Hill Road, Executive Lane, and Cascade Boulevard in Orange and in Milford."

Those roads will be closed for most of the day as public works crews conduct cleanup.

"Cleanup from this early morning's weather event is well underway but it will take some time to get everything back to normal," police said.
