Another Massive Affordable Housing Project Advances in Milford: Report

Another 342-unit apartment complex moved one step closer to becoming a reality after a recent vote.

MILFORD, CT — On Thursday news surfaced that a judge sided with a developer against the city of Milford, which will likely result in 180 units of housing on Wheelers Farms Road, with some of the units to include affordable housing.

Now on Friday news surfaces that Grillo Services has received approval from the Inlands Wetlands Agency for a 342-unit apartment complex at 553 West Avenue via a 5-2 vote, the Milford Mirror reports. The project includes affordable housing units too.

The project still needs Planning and Zoning approval but the city will have a hard time rejecting the plans because its an affordable housing project.

Grillo wants to construct the units in 2 buildings and it will include 512 parking spaces. The approval includes some conditions including the relocation of on-site box turtles, the Mirror reports.

Grillo had initially hoped to develop the land for a composting operation but that was rejected by the city and the company came back with his apartment complex plan.
