Beloved K-9 Zar Mourned By Milford Police Department
K-9 Zar was a "loyal dog that loved coming to work every day during his successful 8-year career," according to the police department.
MILFORD, CT — The Milford Police Department is mourning the death of K-9 Zar, who joined the department in 2014.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the passing of one of our own today, K9 Zar,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “K9 Zar became a member of the Milford Police Department in 2014 after completing an intense 14-week training program with the Connecticut State Police Training Unit 170th Patrol Dog Training Troop with his handler, Ofc. Owens. K9 Zar was a loyal dog that loved coming to work everyday during his successful 8 year career. He was an essential part of both the evening and midnight shift before recently coming to the day shift. K9 Zar had several challenging tracks in Milford and surrounding areas that led to suspect apprehension and evidence recovery.
“K9 Zar participated in many community events, showing his skills through K9 demos. He especially loved getting pet by all of the kids! When K9 Zar wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing with his brothers and his ball. He was a hard worker on the job and a faithful protector in the home.
