Beloved Tradition Returns As Part Of Milford's Oyster Festival

A local organization is bringing back the event due to "overwhelming public demand and hundreds of messages, calls, and online petitions."

MILFORD, CT — The Downtown Milford Business Association is bringing back the Oysterfest Fair under a new name.

Dubbed "Fair on the Half Shell," the new name "continues to honor Milford's coastal roots."

The event will feature over 300 local vendors offering handcrafted goods, art, jewelry, apparel, wellness products, home décor, pet accessories, and more.

Attendees can enjoy live music, food trucks, children's activities, and all-day entertainment. Visitors of all ages are welcome at this free event.

"After overwhelming public demand and hundreds of messages, calls, and online petitions, the Downtown Milford Business Association is proud to announce the return of one of Connecticut’s most anticipated and beloved summer events," according to a statement from the organization.

The "iconic" fair has attracted thousands of attendees annually over the last 50 years, serving as "a cornerstone of Milford’s summer season and a vibrant expression of local culture."

The fair is part of the Milford Oyster Festival and will be Aug. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Milford Green.

"Fair on the Half Shell is a vibrant celebration of what makes Milford and Connecticut shine: unmatched creativity, powerful community spirit, and the charm of a small coastal town," the statement reads.
