Boy Scouts Propose Gay Policy Change
National organization is proposing to lift the ban on gay youth members but continue to exclude gays as adult leaders.

The national Boys Scouts organization said it will pursue a policy to lift the ban on gay youth members while continuing to exclude gays as adult leaders.
This would apparently affect the status of who with his family protested the policy last fall when he was denied an Eagle Scout badge after coming out to his local Scout troop. Patch has an email out to the Andresen family seeking comment about Friday's development.
The Scouts announced Friday that it would submit this proposal to the roughly 1,400 voting members of its National Council at a meeting in Texas the week of May 20, reported the Huffington Post. The BSA said Friday it changed course due in part to results of surveys this year seeking opinions from members of the scouting community.
