Her husband, Brendan Rooney, "immediately sprung into action, assessed me, and rushed me to the hospital."
Carlson Romano was hit in five places, one of those less than an inch from her eye.
One fragment got lodged behind her eye and is too risky to remove surgically at this time. Carlson Romano said she can see normally at the moment. Doctors are continuing to monitor her.
"With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive," she wrote. "I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant."
Carlson Romano thanked first responders in the video calling them "the most amazing people" and "superheroes."
Rooney commented on the post, calling his wife "the bravest, toughest, most stoic and badass woman I have ever met."
The post had more than 88,000 likes as of Monday morning.
