Controversial Silver Sands State Park Expansion Takes a Step Forward
A permit has been issued for the work, which if it becomes a reality means everyone will have to pay for parking.

MILFORD, CT - Slowly but almost surely the project that most Milford residents oppose is once again building momentum again.
Sure, city residents would like to see restrooms and concessions at Silver Sands State Park but not if it means forcing them to pay for entrance to the park.
And that is still a possibility, as the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection took a step forward recently with its plans to extend the boardwalk, build restrooms and concessions, and also construct a ticket booth, the Milford Mirror reports.

Milford officials say they remain opposed to the project out of concern it will lead to a parking nightmare on local roads adjacent to the park.
Milford residents would also have to pay $9 to park at Silver Sands during the week and $13 on weekends. Currently, there is no fee to park at the state park.

City officials tell the Mirror that they are holding out hope that the project as currently pitched doesn’t come to fruition because currently no financing has been approved for the work.
