Coronavirus Milford: Homeless Man Under Quarantine, Police Guard

Police said the man who left quarantine in New Haven Sunday is currently under quarantine in Milford and there is a police guard.

MILFORD, CT — A homeless man who left his quarantine at a New Haven-based hospital Sunday morning and ended up in Milford is under "quarantine and police guard at an undisclosed location in Milford, Connecticut," New Haven Police said Monday.

New Haven Police said they have located a homeless man under a quarantine order who walked away from the hospital. Just before 7 p.m. Sunday, authorities located the missing man in Milford. New Haven Health Department officials are now coordinating efforts with Milford officials.

A few hours earlier on Sunday afternoon, officers detained a man in downtown New Haven and later determined he was not the missing man.

The missing person investigation started at 10:40 a.m. Sunday when Yale New Haven Hospital Security Staff contacted New Haven Police and reported a patient who is positively affected with the Covid 19 virus had left the hospital against a quarantine order from the New Haven Health Department.

The 50 year-old male patient is homeless and was deemed to be a threat to public health. The quarantine order was signed several days prior. The man left the hospital on foot.

New Haven investigators issued a missing person / try and locate broadcast to other law enforcement agencies and spent the day searching for the missing man.
