CONNECTICUT — A strong storm barreled through the state early Monday and at one point knocked out power to more than 10,000 residents. Utility crews have already reduced that number to around 2,200 by 3:00 p.m.

The storm did exactly what forecasters said it would, it dropped heavy snow initially before changing over to sleet and then plain rain for most of the state. There is a lot of slush on the roadways this morning.

North Canton and New Fairfield both recorded five inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. Greenwich recorded a 68 mph wind gust, according to the weather service. (See below for town-by-town power outage updates, snow and wind totals).
