CT Weather: 50 MPH Wind Gusts, Thunderstorms Forecast Saturday

It's going to be a wild day of weather in Connecticut on Saturday. Here's what you need to know about the forecast.

CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for all of Connecticut on Saturday.

Strong wind gusts, heavy downpours and thunderstorms are all possible on Saturday. The silver lining in this forecast is that it will be very warm today, with temperatures around 60 degrees. It will also remain warm for the upcoming week too.

Southern Connecticut

A wind advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. until 4 a.m. Sunday. Southwest to west winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

"In addition, heavier showers and thunderstorms this evening could produce damaging wind gusts to near 60 mph."

Forecast details:

Today: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1pm. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 60. Southeast wind 6 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a slight chance of showers between 2am and 3am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Low around 38. Breezy, with a southwest wind 13 to 22 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.


PATCHY DENSE FOG THIS MORNING

"Fog has developed this morning with some of it becoming dense. Visibilities have lowered to 1/2 to 1 mile with some areas down to 1/4 mile or less. If driving and encountering this fog, proceed with extra caution, drive slowly and allow for extra space between vehicles. Also, use low beam headlights.


Hartford, Tolland and Windham County:

A wind advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.

Forecast details:

Today: Showers, mainly before 2pm. High near 58. Light and variable wind becoming south 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain, mainly before 1am. Low around 37. South wind 11 to 16 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

A wind advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday. Southwest to west winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph expected.
