New Details, Timeline As Strong Storm Forecast For CT Thursday Night
The National Weather Service said the storm may also produce a "few rumbles of thunder." Here are the updated details.
CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service says Connecticut can expect a significant wind and rainstorm Thursday night and early Friday and there could even be some thunder associated with this system.
Temperatures could approach 60 degrees. Is this February or April?
The weather service said, "Confidence is increasing in the potential of wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph Thursday night into Friday morning as a strong frontal system tracks through the area."

All the precipitation will be rain, no snow or ice associated with this storm. Eastern parts of the state could see wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, the weather service said. A high wind watch is likely to be issued, the weather service said.
The weather service said the storm is fast-moving and this will limit heavy rainfall to a 3-6 hour window late Thursday night. About an inch of rain is forecast for the entire state. The weather service said there could even be a "few rumbles of thunder" Thursday night. The rain should be over early Friday morning.

Winds could still gust to 40-50 mph on Friday morning as the system tracks by. Wind gusts only drop to 30-35 mph on Friday afternoon, and those warm temperatures will drop throughout the day on Friday, the weather service said.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Wind chill values between 15 and 25 early. Light southeast wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Thursday Night: Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Steady temperature around 53. Windy, with a south wind 17 to 22 mph increasing to 24 to 29 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 10am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a temperature falling to around 37 by 5pm. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 21 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 21.

Friday: Rain, mainly before 10am. High near 55. Breezy, with a west wind 13 to 20 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 20. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
