CT Weather: Nor'easter To Bring Heavy Rain, Strong Winds

The National Weather Service already issued a flash flood watch for a large portion of the state as a strong storm emerges this week.

CONNECTICUT — A potent nor'easter is expected to bring heavy rain, flooding concerns and strong wind gusts to Connecticut on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Winds gusting between 40-50 mph are possible and between 2-4 inches of rain is expected

A flash flood watch is in effect for all of southern Connecticut from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

"A rapidly developing low-pressure system south of Long Island will likely produce heavy rainfall across the region," the weather service said. "Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. Rainfall rates may exceed one inch per hour at times."

Monday looks gloomy with sporadic rain showers during the day and the heavier and steadier rain moves in at night and continues through Wednesday morning. Thunderstorms are possible late Monday.

The rest of the week forecast and Halloween

High temperatures will be in the 60s on Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday will be in the upper 50s for daytime highs. Sunshine should return on Thursday with temperatures into the upper 50s, more rain and clouds on Friday.

Saturday looks very rainy and the forecast for Halloween calls for a 40 percent chance of rain showers but also party sunny skies. Temperatures on Halloween will rise into the low 60s.
