CT Weather: Nor'easter May Bring Heavy Snow, Wind This Weekend
The National Weather Service has already issued a hazardous weather outlook for a storm that is several days away from Connecticut.
CONNECTICUT — Have you heard the one about a potential blizzard this weekend in Connecticut? The hype machine for this potential storm is already into full swing.
What we know currently is that there is a potential for a coastal storm, also known as a nor'easter, to "bring heavy snowfall and high winds to portions of the area Friday night into Saturday night," according to the latest update from the National Weather Service.
This doesn't mean that this will actually happen, as the weather service said, "Uncertainties remain with the track and intensity of the coastal storm and its resulting potential impacts."

The current snow odds for the weekend have been bumped from 30-40 percent on Monday to around 60 percent this morning, according to the weather service, so the odds at the very least are increasing that we may see a snowstorm of some significance late Friday and Saturday.

The weather service said it's too premature to get into specifics, i.e. snow accumulation estimates, because various computer models continue to show different potential outcomes.
"Overall, expecting what could be a high impact event, however confidence on the exact details remain low," the weather service said Tuesday. "There does remain the possibility of some locations reach warning criteria snowfall. Again, there are uncertainties with the track, and coastal locations may see more mixed precipitation or even going over to all rain for a period of time. In addition to the precipitation threat, there is a chance of strong, gusty winds for the coastal areas."
Besides the potential for snow, the storm could also generate significant wind gusts and flooding concerns.
Northern Connecticut weekend storm update
The weather service said it is tracking a "potentially high impact winter storm across southern New England." The weather service said a "swath of 8 to 12 inches of snow somewhere in southern New England" is possible, but that "It’s too early to get into specific snowfall amounts, as all options remain on the table, including a shift further west."
"For now, what you can do is prepare for the potential of an impactful snowfall with accompanying strong winds..."
