New Details, Timeline For Strong Thunderstorms, Hail Released For CT Saturday

CONNECTICUT — Up until 1 a.m. Sunday there is a chance for thunderstorms, strong wind gusts, and even hail for the state, according to the National Weather Service.

NBC CT also reports that the best chance for thunderstorms is between 7-11 p.m. Saturday.

The weather service said a "Cold front will move across the area this evening and tonight likely to be accompanied by showers and a few thunderstorms. The thunderstorms are expected to arrive from west to east after sunset. These thunderstorms are expected to weaken as the move
east of NYC. Some of these storms could produce strong winds gusts and hail...."

"Average rainfall for this evening looks to be 1/4 to 1/2 inch, with the higher amounts NW of NYC. Locally higher amounts are possible in any downpours...Out east, could see redevelopment of fog with nighttime cooling before the frontal passage. Some clearing expected after the frontal passage later tonight, with lows in the 40s."

Sunday looks dry with increasing clouds during the day and rain is forecast for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers between midnight and 1am. Patchy fog between 8pm and 9pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
