Downtown Milford Restaurant Owner Seeks Outdoor Patio: Report

The Board of Aldermen had too many unanswered questions to approve the patio plans.

MILFORD, CT — The owner of downtown restaurants Bistro Basque and El Barrio Latin Bar & Kitchen is seeking to create a new outdoor patio, similar to the one approved for Eli's Tavern, the Milford Mirror reports.

But the city held off on approving the plans because there were some concerns it may be too big. If the patio is approved it would be located on city land at 25-27 River St. and the owner of the restaurants, David Fernandez, would pay $2,500 annually to the city. The patio would need to close by 10 p.m. and there would be no live music either.

The Milford Mirror reports that adjacent businesses are ok with the patio plans. The patio would hold up to 30 people. Most aldermen expressed support for the project but too many questions remained for it to be approved ant the recent meeting.
