DTC Statement Regarding Alderman Win Smith's Inappropriate Conduct

Alderman Win Smiths’ outburst at the recent Board of Alderman meeting went beyond his normal theatrics and moved into the Trumpian mode of insults, name calling and intimidation . He went even further by standing and lunging at our Superintendent, appearing to try to move towards her physically.

His disrespectful behavior, as a public official, went well beyond any norms for public discourse and moved into dangerous territory.

The disrespectful conduct of Alderman Win Smith towards our school superintendent - currently drawing widespread attention online - is an embarrassment to our community. We call on the Milford Republican Party and Mayor Giannattasio as the titular head of the Republican Party to condemn his remarks and urge Alderman Smith to issue a public apology -- or resign.

Milford deserves better - much better.
