Eight Catalytic Converters Stolen In Milford

The eight catalytic converter thefts follow four over the weekend.

MILFORD, CT — Another rash of catalytic converter thefts occurred in Milford, according to police.

Officers received eight reports of stolen catalytic converters on Tuesday. Two converters were stolen from vehicles on Woodmont Road, one was stolen from the Costco parking lot on Boston Post Road and another five were stolen on Eastern Steel Road.

Four catalytic converters were reported stolen over the weekend as well.

Catalytic converter thefts started spiking nationally in 2020 as the price for the precious metals they contain skyrocketed.

Gov. Ned Lamont recently signed a bill into law that makes it harder for thieves to sell catalytic converters to junkyards.
