Emil J. Mark, 74, formerly of Milford, passed May 31, 2025

Emil J. Mark, of Anderson, South Carolina, husband of Susan Mark, passed away after an illness on Saturday, May 31, 2025. He was the son of the late Emil H. Mark and the late Katherine Brown Mark. Emil was born December 15, 1950 and was a long-time resident of Milford, Connecticut, where he raised his family and owned several carpentry and construction companies.

Emil was a musician, a student and steward of traditional New Orleans jazz, who performed regularly and recorded on piano, banjo and vocals. He was a decades-long member of the Easton Banjo Society, performing traditional American music. Emil was a positive force in his children’s musical education, encouraging and actively participating in their musical pursuits. In his younger years, Emil was an avid skier and enjoyed skiing with his family and staying at the Mark family house in West Halifax, Vermont.

He leaves a son, Dylan Mark of Milford, CT (Khrysty); two daughters, Vanessa Healy (Christopher) of Fairfield, CT, and Hannah Deck (Joseph) of South Salem, NY; seven grandchildren, Eloise Healy, Mabel Healy, Peyton Deck, Riley Deck, Hatter Deck, Jack Mark and Isabella Mark; and four sisters K. Michele Walker, Roberta Taylor, Monica Mark and Andrea Coulson.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras.
