Family Displaced After Fire In Milford
Crews responded to the fire late Thursday night, according to officials.
MILFORD, CT — Two people were displaced from their home after a fire late Thursday night in Milford, according to officials.
Crews responded around 10:50 p.m. to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Meadowside Road. Car 4, Squad 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, Quint 5 and Medic 2 were dispatched to the scene, according to a post on the Milford Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 944 union’s Facebook page.
“S1 was first on scene reporting visible fire from the first floor and heavy smoke on the 2nd,” officials wrote in the post. “On arrival, it was reported that all occupants were safely out of the building. S1 stretched the initial attack line to extinguish the fire. The fire was under control in under an hour and crews began to return to service shortly after midnight. Car 1 and Car 3 responded to the scene and the fire is currently under investigation. No reported injuries to any occupants or firefighters on scene.”

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to a family of two adults after the fire.
“The Red Cross also provided a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more,” according to a news release. “The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as deodorant, toothbrushes, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire.

“Those affected will connect with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan. The Red Cross is able to provide assistance through the generosity of our donors and commitment of our volunteers.”
