Fire Breaks Out In Milford Hotel's Dryer

Twenty firefighters responded Thursday evening to extinguish the blaze.

MILFORD, CT — A fire at a Milford hotel's dryer was quickly extinguished Thursday evening, according to fire officials.

The Milford Emergency Operational Center received numerous phone calls from drivers reporting heavy smoke coming from behind Cumberland Farms located at 1023 Boston Post Road at 6:03 p.m.

It was first thought to be a dumpster fire, but then emergency responders received a call from the Super 8 reporting a dryer fire in the building's lower level.

Twenty firefighters responded to the call to put out the blaze.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which was confined to the dryer. There was no spread of the fire to the upper levels of the hotel.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
