Four Charged In Fraudulent Car Purchase Cases: Milford Police

Police charged four people in connection with attempts to fraudulently purchase a vehicle.

MILFORD, CT — Four people were charged in connection with alleged fraudulent car purchases at Dash Cars, according to police.

The dealership called police Nov. 9 and said a man was attempting to fraudulently purchase a vehicle. James Harmon, 43, of New Britain tried to purchase a vehicle with a fake ID, police said.

Rahiem Robinson, 28, of Manchester and Devante Davis, 25, of Hartford were also located and officers determined that they drove Hartmon to the dealership and waited outside, police said.

During the investigation, officers were alerted that another man was trying to purchase a vehicle with a fake ID. William Shepard, 68, of East Hartford was taken into custody.

Harmon was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, criminal attempt at first-degree larceny and third-degree forgery. He was released on a promise to appear.

Davis and Robinson were both charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and criminal attempt to commit first-degree larceny. They were released on a promise to appear.

Shepard was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree larceny, third-degree forgery and identity theft.
