A fast moving storm has caused havoc on roadways this morning, and more than 150 schools in CT have cancelled or delayed openings.

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for most of the state of Connecticut for periods of whiteout snow conditions that will thankfully end around 10 a.m.
All told the state is looking at between 1-3 inches of snow, which started falling at just the right time this morning leading 150 schools in CT to either close or delay opening.
Many of the major roadways and thruways are congested and delays are being reported. Crashes were reported already in Ridgefield, Waterbury and Middletown this morning, NBC Connecticut reports.

Moderate to heavy snow bands will continue to pound the state through 10 a.m. and snow is accumulating quickly on roads because of the prior subfreezing temperatures.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for southern New London and Middlesex counties until 1 p.m. along with a wind advisory.
The good news is a large part of the state will actually hit the freezing mark today, which is a marked warmup over the past few days where high temperatures were stuck in the teens to single digits and it felt like 20 below zero with the wind chill factor.
The weekend weather forecast calls for dry and chilly temps, which of course is expected in January.
Please drive safely if you are out on the roadways, and have a great weekend.
