Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Fairfield/New Haven County: NWS

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Fairfield and New Haven counties Thursday. Here's what we can expect.

FAIRFIELD/NEW HAVEN COUNTY — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Fairfield and New Haven counties for the chance of strong thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening.

"There is a chance for strong to potentially damaging wind gusts with thunderstorms late this afternoon and into the early part of the overnight," the weather service said.

Winds could gust up to 30 mph and a half inch of rain is possible. The good news is that temperatures will moderate to near 60 degrees Thursday and Friday looks good with some sun and temperatures in the upper 50s.

Today: A chance of light rain with a slight chance of showers before 10am, then a chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph becoming south 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between midnight and 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Low around 49. South wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 57. West wind 7 to 15 mph.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. West wind 13 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 53. West wind around 10 mph.

Saturday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 37.

Sunday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37.
