Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Southern Connecticut

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern parts of the state on Monday. Here's what to expect.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern Connecticut on Monday. A wind advisory has also been issued from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday.

Winds will be between 20-30 mph on Monday and some gusts could reach 50 mph.

"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects," the weather service cautions. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."

Before we get to Monday's unsettled weather, we're still dealing with more rain showers tonight and there is a chance for an "isolated thunderstorm."

"A brief period of locally heavy rain with gusty winds is also possible this evening as the front passes," the weather service said. "Winds will increase after the front passes later tonight, with gusts of up to 25 to 35 mph, with higher gusts across the ocean waters. The cold front will move offshore by early Monday with decreasing clouds. Lows tonight will be in the low to upper 30s across the area."

"Monday will be mostly dry and blustery, with widespread wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph across the area," the weather service said. "A few snow showers are also possible early across the interior with some possible rain showers across Eastern Long Island and parts of coastal Southeast
Connecticut."

High temperatures will top out mainly in the mid to upper 40s. Showers are possible again Monday night into early Tuesday, particularly across southeastern Connecticut. Winds will begin
to diminish Monday night with most gusts in the 20 to 30 mph range, the weather service said.

Low temperatures Monday night will be in the low to upper 30s. A slight chance of showers remains for early Tuesday afternoon with partly to mostly cloudy skies throughout the rest of the day. Highs are forecast rise into the upper 40s to low 50s.

Wednesday through Sunday look pretty perfect for mid-fall and by the weekend we could see upper 60s and nothing but sunshine.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then isolated showers between midnight and 1am. Low around 40. South wind 8 to 14 mph becoming west in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Isolated showers between 8am and 11am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a northwest wind 14 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Southwest wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 10am, then a slight chance of rain showers between 10am and noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 51. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
