Here is Who is Looking to Succeed Sen. Gayle Slossberg
Slossberg surprised many people by announcing she would not seek reelection this fall.

MILFORD, CT — Former State Rep. James Maroney, D-Milford, announced he is planning to run for the 14th senatorial district seat, which is currently occupied by seven-term Incumbent State Sen. Gayle Slossberg, D-Milford. The 14th senatorial district includes Milford, Orange, and parts of West Haven and Woodbridge.
Slossberg announced Friday that she will not seek reelection. Maroney told the Milford Mirror that the voters "have come to expect a senator who will support the middle class, protect the environment, and fight for effective education."
He went on to say he is concerned that too many young adults are leaving the state and that the ongoing budget woes need to be addressed. Maroney is the owner of First Choice College Placement in Milford.

Milford Democratic Town Chairman Richard Smith told Patch that "I am very excited to have James step up to fill the great void left by our retiring State Senator, Gayle Slossberg. James comes to this race with proven legislative experience, having proudly served the people of Milford’s 119th in the state house.
"I have known James nearly his entire life, he grew up just one street from me and was actually my mom’s paperboy. Throughout his time in elective and appointed positions, James has continually distinguished himself as a highly thoughtful and fair-minded leader. People from both political Parties respect and admire him. His work ethic and commitment to his constituents make him uniquely qualified to take on this new opportunity, to serve the people of the 14th senate district. I know James will work tirelessly to secure the nomination and to win this seat in November," Smith said of Maroney.
