Initial Snowfall Estimates Made for Connecticut Snowstorm Early Next Week

Parts of southern CT may see light snow late Sunday but then a steadier snow moves in Monday night and could last until early Wednesday.

Earlier on Saturday we wrote about a few upcoming snow chances for next week for southern Connecticut, and the National Weather Service is slowly moving in the direction that this may end up as some real accumulating snow.

In a late Saturday afternoon update, the National Weather Service in its “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties writes, “an offshore storm will likely bring a light accumulating snow” to southeastern Connecticut late Sunday and into early Monday.

However, the weather service says that the storm could track closer to the coast, and if that happens we’d be dealing with a “moderate snowfall” late Sunday and into early Monday for southern Connecticut.

And that’s not all of course.

“Another low pressure system is forecast to develop across the mid-Atlantic states and bring the potential for more snow Monday night and Tuesday,” the National Weather Service states.

“Snowfall accumulation forecast spread remains moderate to high through this period,” the National Weather Service states.

The National Weather Service in its initial accumulation estimate is predicting a minimum of three inches of snow from Monday through early Wednesday and up to six inches or more possibly, during this potential long duration snow event.

We’ll continue to update this forecast.
