Interim Principal for Calf Pen Meadow Named

She's been a professional educator for the past 26 years.

MILFORD, CT – Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anna Cutaia announced the appointment of Dr. Ginger Vail as the Interim Principal for Calf Pen Meadow Elementary. Dr. Vail will join the Milford Public School community on Monday, August 13th.

She replaces Dr. Amy Fedigan, who will be moving to central office administration to serve as the new Assistant Superintendent. She will serve in the role of interim principal for the 2018-19 academic year.

"Dr. Vail has had a stellar career, serving for the past 26 years as a professional educator," officials said in a news release. (To sign up for Milford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Dr. Vail received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Georgia in 1992. In 1995, she received her Master’s degree in education from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia with a concentration in English and history.

She received certification from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in 2000 (Early Adolescent Generalist Certified) and later received her doctorate degree from the University of San Francisco in Organizational and Educational Leadership (2003).

According to the news release:

The Calf Pen Meadow community will benefit greatly from Dr. Vail’s vast experience in all educational roles throughout her career. She began her in career path in 1992 as a middle school teacher in Lawrenceville, GA and Fairfax, CA. Her administrative work began in 2001, where she was named assistant principal (White Hill Middle School, Neil Cummins Elementary School/California). Her career later focused on the delivery of special education, having served as a special education coordinator in California and an assistant principal, and principal.

Her work in Connecticut includes having served the Fairfield Public School district, both as principal of McKinley Elementary School (2010-2013) and as an interim administrator conducting teacher evaluations for the past five years. She has also worked with the Trumbull Public School system as a special education consultant from 2017 to present.

Dr. Vail has consistently made a personal commitment to innovation and excellence in all of the roles she has filled throughout her career. Some of her more recent projects include the implementation of a new readers’ workshop curriculum and implementation, the introduction of a whole-school community building program, and developed a public relations plan, which promoted parental involvement and the development of partnering relationships with local benevolent organizations. She has been described as an expert collaborator.

We will be working with members of the Calf Pen School Community to arrange a variety of meet and greet events with Dr. Vail.
