In 1851 the Milford Fire Company changed its name to the Wepawaug Engine Company No.1. Within thirty days of joining the company a member must provide his own uniform:Black Glazed hat (Sou’Wester) rim 5”wide behind and 2 ½ inches in front. “1” painted on front. Dark plantoons without suspenders, a red flannel shirt (collar to be four inches wide) and the bosom buttoned on the right breast with three black buttons.
