JWC Hosts 38th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee

The Junior Woman's Club of Milford Hosted its Annual Spelling Bee at Milford City Hall

MILFORD- On Wednesday, March 13th, the Junior Woman's Club of Milford hosted the 38th Annual Citywide Spelling Bee for 5th and 6th graders at Milford City Hall. This year's Bee Master was Milford Public Library Assistant Director, Suzanne Harrison-Thomas. Spelling Bee judges included Susan Glennon, Chairman of the Milford Board of Education and Jennipher Israelite, Business Education Teacher at Jonathan Law High School. The top three winners of the spelling bee are as follows:

First Place: Jason Rosado, East Shore Middle School

Second Place: Juliet Semrau, St. Mary School

Third Place: Alexander Mirdita, West Shore Middle School

Additional participants included: Caleb Nero-Layne, Calf Pen Meadow Elementary; Jackson Magun, JFK Elementary; Justice Davis, Live Oaks Elementary; Shambhavi Bawankar, Meadowside Elementary; Nicholas Chickos, Orange Avenue Elementary; Robert "Ike" Weymer, Orchard Hills Elementary; Batuhan Otay, Pumpkin Delight Elementary; Siddarth Vajrala, Mathewson Elementary; Evelyn Antonino, St. Mary School and James Wilhelm, Harborside Middle School.

The Junior Woman's Club of Milford is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded on the principles of promoting education, public health, philanthropy and service to the Milford community. Our programs include the Citywide Spelling Bee, Community Excellence Awards, Adopt-A-Spot, the Respect Campaign and much more. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is our Annual Touch-A-Truck held at Eisenhower Park in October.
