Remember in Jurassic Park when the two kids knew the Raptors were coming because the Jell-O jiggled? Well, CT residents, our Jell-O is doing a regular salsa as the Democrat majority of 30 years once again proposes tax increases. Yes the Raptors are coming.
Additional taxes would include boosting hotel and real estate conveyance taxes, a tax on over-the-counter medications, higher gas taxes, a new tire tax, and electronic tolls throughout our state. The tolls are just another tax, 60%-70% of which will be paid for by CT drivers.

Today’s siren call for a massive cash influx has been heard before. Remember 1991 when the state income tax was implemented? Did the implementation of that tax solve our financial problems? No. Did passing two historic tax increases, the first in 2011 and again in 2015, solve the problem of recurring deficits? No.
So if no new taxes then what’s alternative solution?
We can start with cutting waste.
Connecticut spends three times more per mile to build a road than the average state. And what have we gotten for our tax dollars? We have a transportation system that ranks 46th out of 50. Does anyone think that this is the only area of waste we need to look at?
We have to spend our money more effectively and reduce costs.
Our problem isn’t too little tax revenue; it’s largely a lack of proper management. If after 30 years of Democrat control we get a new majority in Hartford, maybe we can solve our deficit problems without constantly raising taxes. Let’s find out!
