Luna Leads the Pack in Week One of Dog Licensing Month!

Milford, CT – [June 9, 2025] – "Week one of the 2025–2026 Dog Licensing Month has been non-stop,” said Milford City Clerk Pete Smith. “We’ve licensed over 550 dogs in just the first five days!”

Of those dogs, 526 have been spayed or neutered—an encouraging sign of responsible pet ownership across the city.

Topping the charts is Luna, the most licensed dog name for Week One, followed closely by Bailey, Lucy, Molly, and Toby. (full List of Names)

“No matter what your dog’s name is, show them you LOVE them by getting them licensed,” Smith added.

Licensing your dog isn’t just a legal requirement—it keeps them safe, ensures they’re protected, and helps them get home if they ever go missing.

This year’s dog license is valid from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

How to License Your Dog

🔹 Avoid Late Fees:

A $1/month late fee begins July 1 if your dog is not licensed by June 30.

📄 What You’ll Need:

1. Completed dog license application
2. Current rabies vaccination certificate (on file with Clerk’s Office)
3. Proof of spay/neuter (if applicable – also kept on file)
4. Payment (cash, check, money order, or credit card; convenience fees apply)
