CT Weather: Snow Friday, New Details On Possible Weekend Storm

In just 24 hours there is a big change to this weekend's expected powerful storm. Here are the new details and what we can expect.

On Monday there was a lot of talk and hype about a potential major snowstorm for next weekend, and a day later not so much for Connecticut at least. In fact, Connecticut may see more accumulating snow Thursday night/Friday morning then on Sunday, according to the latest forecast models.

Connecticut is now looking at one to two inches of snow late Thursday/early Friday, which could cause school delays and trouble for the morning commute.

As for this weekend's big storm, Connecticut is still expected to see a lot of precipitation but right now it looks to be largely rain, especially on the coast. Inland and northern sections of the state will see a mix of snow, sleet and rain. Areas to the north of Connecticut may see feet of snow, but currently the forecast calls for very little accumulating snow for us.

And once the precipitation ends Sunday, the coldest air of the season arrives on Martin Luther King Jr. day with temps not even reaching 20 degrees.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said Tuesday "It will stay dry today right through Thursday. Light snow late Thursday night and early on Friday could cause some school delays. Dry weather on Saturday followed by a big storm for Sunday. The storm looks closer to Connecticut with ice and rain! There could be a flash freeze Sunday afternoon!"
