Man Burglarized Milford Deli Because He Was Thirsty: Police

The man who allegedly swiped the soda valued at $5.58 is now being held on a $25,000 bond by Milford police.

David Lopez, 21, of Sylvan Avenue in Bridgeport, allegedly learned the hard way that soda isn’t good for him.

He is accused of breaking into a store for two bottles of soda, but now finds himself held on a $25,000 bond.

Milford police say on June 18 they responded to a burglary alarm at a Bridgeport Avenue deli that was then found to be a burglary.

During the investigation, police located Lopez in the downtown area of Milford and they identified him as being responsible for the burglary, police said.

Lopez allegedly admitted to breaking the front door of the business valued at $2,800 and taking two 2-liter bottles of soda valued at $5.58.

Milford police say the man took a bottle of Pepsi and Coca-Cola and told them he did it because was thirsty.

He is charged with second-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, and first-degree criminal mischief. He was held on a $25,000 bond.
