A man is facing charges after state police say he was driving the wrong-way on an I-95 exit ramp.

MILFORD, CT — A man is accused of driving the wrong way on an I-95 exit ramp while drunk, according to state police.

A trooper was patrolling I-95 in Milford on Friday at 9:27 p.m. The trooper exited the highway on the exit 40 off-ramp and, while approaching a traffic light at the end of the ramp, noticed headlights illuminated in their direction.

The trooper then spotted a Ford F350 facing the wrong way in the left turn lane of the ramp.

The trooper put on emergency lights and siren and positioned their cruiser in front of the truck to prevent it from moving forward. The truck's driver then pulled a U-turn and went west on Old Gate Lane.

The trooper managed to get the truck to pull over in a parking lot and found a lone man sitting in the driver's seat, eating take-out food.

The trooper asked the driver about his destination. The driver said he was heading home from a business convention but didn't specify where. At one point, the driver handed a bundle of documents to the trooper while continuing to eat.

The trooper believed the driver, a Wethersfield man, was showing signs of intoxication. The man failed sobriety tests and was placed under arrest, according to police.

He was charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.

He was released on $1,500 bond and scheduled for arraignment in Milford Superior Court on Oct. 29.
