Man Sold Fake Motor Vehicle Insurance Cards: Milford Police
The accused was an employee of a local car dealership at the time of the incident, police said.
MILFORD, CT — A North Haven man, Harold Butler, 50, of Street Street, is accused of issuing fake motor vehicle insurance cards for a fee to customers while he worked at a local car dealership, Milford Police said.
On Feb. 4, Butler was arrested on a warrant. On August 20, 2019, Milford Police received a report from Napoli Kia, 688 Bridgeport Ave, in regards to a fraud and larceny after learning that a salesman, Butler, was issuing fake motor vehicle insurance cards for a fee to customers who bought cars at Napoli Kia, police said.
An audit was conducted by Napoli Kia and it was discovered that there were over 100 such transactions, police said. Milford Police Detectives conducted a detailed investigation resulting in the arrest warrant for Butler who is charged with third-degree larceny. He was released on a $25,000 bond.
