Man Steals Unlocked Running Car from Cumberland Farms Parking Lot: Milford Police

Police say the victim went inside to shop and left the car running.

MILFORD, CT — A man is accused of stealing a car from the Cumberland Farms parking lot while the victim was inside the store, police said.

On Oct. 11, Milford Police took custody of Herbert Davis, 29, of Elizabeth Street, New Haven, for an active warrant for his arrest.

On October 30, 2015, Milford Police received a report of a stolen vehicle, police said. The victim reported his vehicle stolen from the Cumberland Farms parking lot, 1023 Boston Post Road, police said.

The victim left the vehicle unlocked and running while in the store, then witnessed the vehicle being stolen
by an unknown male, police said.

Further investigation revealed Davis as a possible suspect, police said. The vehicle was later recovered and evidence indicated Davis had been inside the vehicle, police said.

Davis was released on a Promise to Appear in Milford Court on November 8, 2016.
