Man Strangled Victim, Ripped Door Off Its Hinges: Milford Police

A man is facing charges after he grabbed a woman fleeing a home, dragged her back inside, then strangled her, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A man is accused of strangling and threatening to kill a victim who had a protective order against him, according to police.

Police responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at a Milford home Friday at 9:05 a.m.

When officers arrived at the home, the victim yelled that the suspect was running out the back door.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect at the time. He was later found walking on New Haven Avenue and taken into custody.

A police investigation found that the man had fought the victim and strangled her. He is accused of blocking the victim from leaving a room after screaming at her.

He also grabbed a door and ripped it off its hinges. When the victim tried to leave the home, he grabbed her and dragged her back inside as he threw her to the ground and strangled her. He is also accused of threatening to kill the victim.

The victim was able to lock herself in a room and call for help as the man fled.

The victim had a protective order against the man.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, first-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree strangulation, violation of a protective order, and second-degree threatening.

He was held on $45,000 bond and taken to Milford Superior Court on Tuesday.
