Man Who Led Police In Prior Pursuit Found At Mall: Milford Police

During a traffic stop, police said, they found a loaded revolver and a spent shell casing inside the vehicle.

MILFORD, CT — A New Haven man, who is accused of leading Milford police in a previous pursuit, was located at the Connecticut Post Mall, 1201 Boston Post Road, and he is facing several charges, according to police.

On March 14, an officer saw a vehicle in the mall lot that they recognized from a previous incident in which the driver, Kayvon McCoy, 26, engaged officers in pursuit, police said.

McCoy, of Orchard Street in New Haven, had an active arrest warrant stemming from this incident, police said. Police said they initiated a traffic stop and determined that McCoy was the driver of the vehicle. McCoy was taken into custody on the arrest warrant.

During an inventory of the vehicle, numerous items of contraband were located, police said.

1) Bottle of prescription drugs filled with different types of pills, several testing positive for MDMA/Ecstasy

2) Pink pill bottle with no labeling containing various pills, several testing positive for MDMA/Ecstasy

3) Black plastic bag containing numerous amounts of counterfeit bills

4) Loaded revolver

5) Spent shell casing

During the investigation, it was determined that McCoy was the subject of a Criminal Protective Order, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm, police said.

McCoy was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Revolver
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Illegal Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle
  • Violation of a Protective Order
  • Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs

Warrant:

  • Evading Responsibility

McCoy was initially held on a $25,500 bond.
