Men Found With Drugs, Pellet Guns In Car: Clinton Police

CLINTON, CT — Two men face several charges after police say they were found to be in the possession of drugs, pellet guns and burglary tools while officers investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle on Monday afternoon.

Police responded to the area of Cream Pot Road at about 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 18 for after being contacted by an alert citizen for a reported suspicious vehicle/trespassing complaint.

The suspects, 27-year-old John Marquis of New Haven and 28-year-old Grady Studdard of East Haven, were observed in a private driveway, according to police. They left when they were confronted by the homeowner, police said.

The suspect vehicle was located and pulled over in the area.

Officers searched the vehicle and located cash, cocaine, heroin, pills and other drug-related items consistent with a mobile drug factory, according to police.

Police also seized two .177 caliber air pistols, a .177 caliber air rifle and several burglary tools.

Marquis was charged with illegal possession of narcotics, illegal possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, illegal possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, illegal possession of narcotics with the intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, illegal possession of drug paraphernalia in drug factory situation, possession of burglar’s tools and weapons in a motor vehicle. He was held on $25,000 bond.

Grady Studdard, 28, of East Haven / Clinton Police Department

Studdard was charged with illegal possession of narcotics and illegal possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school. He was held on $10,000 bond.
