Men Tried To Steal Car Part, Strike Police Cruiser: Milford PD
A police K-9 was able to track down one of the two people charged, police said.
MILFORD, CT — Two Bridgeport man are accused of trying to steal an auto part from a car and ended up striking a police cruiser as they attempted to leave the area, Milford police said.
On Saturday, police responded to the area of 494 Naugatuck Ave. on the report of two males using power tools on a parked vehicle, police said. Upon police arrival, the two men got into another vehicle and fled, throwing an item out of the vehicle, striking a police cruiser, a utility pole, and a parked vehicle before coming to a stop, police said.
The passenger, Freddie Ramos, 28, of Laurel Avenue, fled on foot and was later located by a police K9, police said. Investigation led to the arrests of Javier Rodriguez, 23, of Caroline Street and Ramos who are accused of attempting to steal the catalytic converter from a parked vehicle, police said. The item thrown out the window was located and was found to be a sawzall, police said.

Rodriguez is charged with first-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, criminal attempt to commit fourth-degree larceny, possession of burglar tools, three counts of evading responsibility and failure to drive right.
Ramos is charged with first-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, criminal attempt to commit fourth-degree larceny, possession of burglar tools, and interfering with police.
