Milford Biz Giving Free Food To Those In Need Amid Coronavirus

The Milford restaurant will give people struggling financially from the fallout of the new coronavirus a free dinner.

MILFORD, CT — Are you hungry for some Italian food? Do you also enjoy free things? Well if the answer is yes to both then you're in luck this week.

On Monday, March 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Contes Ristaurante, 1573 Boston Post Road, they will be offering free pizza or pasta with chicken parmigiana. The same offer will be made on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week at Contes Ristaurante. The free food will be offered until supply runs out.

"We will be doing this until at least Thursday same place, same time," said Andrew Testo, who is a catering chef, who has reached out to several of his contacts in the food service industry about teaming up to feed people affected by the virus. In addition to Contes Ristaurante in Milford, eateries in Fairfield and Shelton have also expressed interest.

Testo said this is a labor of love for him.

"As a catering/pizza chef out of work due to the pandemic. I couldn’t sit idle at home and not do something for our community. I took it upon myself to reach out to several of my colleagues in the hospitality/restaurant industry and asked them to participate in a feed the community campaign and to my great pleasure everyone gladly agreed to participate."

"L.O.V.E is an acronym for the charitable organization “Let Our Village Eat.” This organization is looking for restaurants and commercial kitchens that are not currently using their facilities but would like to open their facilities to serve meals to citizens of the community during this difficult time by way of curb side pick up. This is a perfect way to give back to our community. This crisis has no boundaries. Together we can overcome," Testo said.

"Our organization Let our village eat, the owners of Contes Ristorante and Arthur Avenune Pizza and Catering will be preparing and distributing, by way of curb side pick up. These free meals for everyone in need until at least Thursday April 2," he said. "We sponsored a similar event at the Brickyard pub in Fairfield over a 3 day period this past weekend as a result more than 300 meals were distributed free of charge to the local community."
