MILFORD, CT — For the fourth straight year the tax rate in Milford is declining and residents on average can expect to see a $7 savings, the Milford Mirror reports. The new budget stands at $216.55 million, which is a $6.3 million increase over the current budget.

The Board of Education budget was approved with no change at $95.08 million or a 1.89 percent hike. The most contentious issue centered on mayoral assistant Justin Rosen's salary increase which went from $70,328 to $91,147 after it was approved along party lines.

Republicans said that at a time when there is a spending freeze it's not smart to approve such a significant raise while Mayor Ben Blake countered that Rosen has added a lot of new responsibilities to his job and the raise is definitely deserved, the Milford Mirror reports.
