Milford Budget Approved: Here's What You Need To Know

The Board of Aldermen approved the budget for next year and more cuts were made Monday night.

MILFORD, CT — Depending what happens up in Hartford concerning the state's massive budget woes Milford residents as of right now are looking at a slight decrease in the tax rate next fiscal year, which begins July 1.

According to the Milford Mirror, a resident with a house valued at $311,070 will pay $11 less in taxes next year after the Board of Aldermen approved a $205.78 million spending plan for fiscal 2017-18.

The aldermen reduced the spending proposal by $2.1 million Monday night including a $342,000 cut to the Board of Education's original budget request. School officials said it's likely some buildings and ground projects may be impact, the Milford Mirror reports.

Republicans expressed dismay that the budget was voted on Monday night as they thought it wasn't going to occur until May 25. The vote to approve was along party lines.
