Milford Business Draws Praise From Sen. Chris Murphy

MILFORD, CT — U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced that Sonitek of Milford is this week’s “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.” Founded in 1989, Sonitek specializes in the manufacturing of heat staking machines, ultrasonic welders, and air presses.

In recent weeks, Sonitek has stepped up in the fight against the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Sonitek offers ultrasonic welding, tooling, and automation for joining, cutting, and sealing of non-woven materials like N95 masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE), and the company’s employees have been working around the clock in order to help their customers make more ventilators, face masks, and testing equipment—many of the vital products that will help save and protect lives.

“Sonitek is another example of Connecticut companies stepping up in a major way in the fight against COVID-19. Their products are used to make the very critical N95 masks and PPE that our frontline workers need to protect our communities and save lives. I want to applaud them for their three decades of service to Connecticut manufacturing and their efforts to train the next generation of manufacturers in our state. Sonitek has a strong partnership with Platt Technical High School, where they have an internship program. They donate machines to the high school to help teach students various manufacturing processes. The company also has an apprenticeship program with the Connecticut Department of Labor. Sonitek’s made in Connecticut products are produced by their 50 employees in a 12,000 square-foot facility in Milford.
