"I’m Elizabeth Wecker from Fleurescent flower shop. I have owned my business in downtown Milford for the past 12 years With all the sadness and uncertainty looming over the covid 19 virus I feel like we could all use a little beauty and happiness!
I was struck by a photo of all the unused flowers from all the cancelled events laying in a garbage heap, posted by a Dutch wholesaler. It occurred to me that my local wholesale florist , National Floral Supply in Orange was probably in a similar situation.

There is a New York florist by the name of Lewis Miller who has been taking old flowers and leftovers from his events and making them into beautiful floral displays in public places. They are amazing! And I’ve been wanting to do something similar in Milford for some time. And what better time than now!
So tomorrow we will be using the flowers and greens so generously donated by National Floral Supply to create a pop up floral installation downtown. The idea is that this art lasts for a short time and it belongs to everyone - so anyone walking by is welcome to take a flower or two home if they wish. I will make sure it’s not a hazard to anyone and will clean it up in a few days if any flowers remain!"
