MILFORD, CT — Milford's election season is heating up and there are plenty of contested races with candidates eager to get their name on the ballot for the city's municipal election. One of those contested races is the race for the Board of Education.

Adam De Young, 40, is running for re-election to the Board of Education as a Democrat in the fifth-district.

With the addition of our new Superintendent, we are working hard to move our district from good to great. With the addition of high quality instruction and our Chromebook 1:1 initiative we are well on our way.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post? *

I intend to continue responsible investment in our schools.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I worked hard in my first term to bring greater transparency to the budgeting process which I did by encouraging the district to include more details about the monies they would be spending on building projects throughout the district.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I have a stake in the future of this district. My twin daughters are in elementary school and while I work for all students I have a couple reminders who come home everyday and tell me about their experiences in the Milford Public Schools that remind me why I am working to be on the Milford Board of Education.
