Milford, CT — The Milford City Clerk’s Office has released its 2024–2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year marked by record service delivery, modernization initiatives, and continued commitment to transparency and accessibility.
“This past year, our office worked to expand access to services while protecting Milford’s historic records and ensuring the highest standards of customer service,” said City Clerk Pete Smith. “Every number in this report represents a resident served, a life event recorded, or a democratic process protected.”

- 67,235 total transactions processed
- $6.02 million collected in revenue for the City and State
- 8,373 land recordings filed
- 2,865 certified vital records issued
- 404 marriage licenses issued
- 2,628 dog licenses issued — a record high
- 2,679 absentee ballots administered, placing Milford fifth in the state
- Operation of one of Connecticut’s busiest Early Voting locations
The Clerk’s Office also continued its work behind the scenes, supporting 39 boards and commissions by managing agendas, minutes, legal postings, oaths of office, and record retention in compliance with state regulations.
Looking ahead, the office is developing a “Virtual City Clerk’s Office” to provide residents with 24/7 digital access to services and public documents. At the same time, staff remain committed to in-person service that is responsive and respectful.

As Milford—Connecticut’s sixth-oldest community—prepares for America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, the City Clerk’s Office is expanding efforts to preserve and share the city’s historical legacy. The vault currently houses more than 2.5 million pages of records dating back to the 1600s, and new initiatives are underway to make these irreplaceable documents digitally accessible to the public.
“The trust Milford residents place in this office is both humbling and motivating,” Smith said. “We look forward to another year of innovation, service, and stewardship of the city’s most important records.”
