Milford Education Foundation Sends Teachers Back to School with $6,700 in Mini-Grants

Foundation will present "An Evening Under the Stars" on November 7th.

This past spring, the Milford Education Foundation (MEF) awarded 11 teachers across the Milford Public School District $6,691 for creative projects that will be implemented during the 2015-16 academic year.

MEF’s Teacher Mini-Grant Program, now in its third year, is dedicated to supporting teacher projects that further enrich and enhance existing curricula.

To date, the Foundation has distributed over $17,000 in teacher mini-grants. It will make an additional $6,000 available to teachers across the district through an application process that opens in November.

This innovated fundraiser will take place at Joseph Foran High School and will include dinner, music and student-assisted planetarium shows for the whole family.

James Maroney, the event’s chair and an alumnus of the Milford Public Schools stated, “It is exciting to be able to hold an event that showcases one of Milford’s gems, the planetarium at Foran.”

Money raised from this event will benefit MEF initiatives, including the Teacher Mini-Grant Program, with a portion of proceeds going to the planetarium and the Joseph Foran Band. Tickets are available online at www.milfordedfoundation.org/tickets or by contacting the Foundation at info@milfordedfoundation.org.
