Milford Elks Lodge #1589 Walks a Mile to Support Survivors

Milford, CT — April 27, 2025 — Members of Milford Elks Lodge #1589 participated in this year’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, raising $1,260 to support the Rape Crisis Center of Milford and its vital services for survivors of sexual violence.

Twelve lodge members took part in the event, with several of the men wearing women’s shoes as a symbolic show of solidarity. Their presence underscored the lodge’s commitment to standing with survivors and helping fund the resources they need to heal and thrive.
“The participation and generosity from our members were outstanding,” said Milford Elks’ officers. “It was another example of how our lodge remains active in addressing serious issues impacting our community.”

The funds raised will go directly to support the Rape Crisis Center’s outreach, counseling, education, and advocacy programs.

“This event is about more than walking a mile in someone else's shoes—it's about standing up for survivors, supporting essential services, and showing that the Elks will always be there when our community needs us. I couldn’t be prouder of our lodge for stepping up, speaking out, and walking the walk.”
