Milford Fire Responds To Water Rescue Call

A woman from shore saw a kayaker in distress waving their paddle and another possibly in need of help, fire officials said.

MILFORD, CT — The Milford Fire Department responded to a water rescue Saturday night, fire union officials posted on Facebook.

A7 7:30 p.m. crews responded to a water rescue call. A woman from shore saw a kayaker in distress waving their paddle and another possibly in need of help, officials said.

Emergency crews went to scout at Melba Street, and Marine 1 found the first kayaker hanging on to his sunken kayak, fire union officials said. The crew pulled him and his kayak aboard safely. He was then brought to Port Milford, where he was picked up by family after no injuries or medical concerns were found, union officials said.

The second kayaker was able to paddle to shore prior to the fire department's arrival. He was found and confirmed to be safe.
